Hi folks,

Just wondered if you guys had heard of Berk Technology ?

They are by far the most popular High Flow Cat that we sell to Nissan 350/370z owners.

I've sold Berk parts to S2K owners and BMW 135i owners too but not too any GT86 owners yet so if anyone fancies a deal say £50 offto trial one out then give me a shout, I would like a write up and sound clip in return.

I'm sure you guys are aware but a High Flow Cat will increase air flow and unlike a decat it won't fail a uk emissions test. Your exhaust note will get more of a roar when you get to a certain rpm, (on the Zeds its around 3-4k). They also make a bit of a whoosh noisewhen you take foot off the accelerator, 99% love it but the odd one or two don't so bear that in mind. If you watch the embedded video below you can get a good idea of the sound

Berk Technology products are tried and tested , they are Time Attack championships and have their own 86 project car that was displayed at last years SEMA show in the USA.

I have sold a lot of their High Flow Cats to customers andtraders and they are always spot on soI can't imagine why they wouldn't be a hit with you guys.

If anyone fancies doing a Berk HFC/Invidia Q300 CBECombo then please get in touch and I will sort somethingout on the both for you.

Cheers Chris

Hi Chris, as far as I'm aware we can remove the centre cat completely and remain MOT legal as the 86 has another cat nearer the manifold. Which cat are you talking about?
The Berk pipe is a catted front pipe, like the stock one but better.
^ exactly that, stock one is a lot more restrictive so if your planning on a remap you really want to be looking at changing out the stock exhaust parts in order to get the most gains.

I will be honest I wasn't aware you would still pass emissions tests with one cat but that's why I joined here, Berk also do a decatted front pipe, I would have thought the two options were there for a reason but if you can get away with deleting the 2nd cat then brill.

The front cat in the manifold is the one that does most of the work, the 2nd is there to meet US & Euro5 emissions regs.

The 2nd cat is a necessary if you were to replace the manifold without a cat - I'll know soon whether this is UK road legal. If so, then this the cat'd hi-flow front pipe is a great option. If you're not going to replace the manifold, you may as well go for the de-cat option

Chris,

Do Berk make a 3" high flow cat? I am currently running a 2.5" overpipe and front pipe, but will be changing to a 3" replacement, to mate with the 3" Ultimate Racing rear system that is waiting for me at Fensport to be fitted, and the ECU then re-mapped. The front system & overpipe will most probable be custom made for me by Fensport (they have already done it on their race car), but I will need to procure a hi flow cat for the system.

No unfortunately not.

AVO do a 3" Catted down pipe, i'm not 100% sure on the configuration of GT86 as i'm still researching it myselfbut the exhaustAVO make specifically for their turbo application is only 2.5" piping.

Thank you for the reply. Whilst the most common 'large' bore exhaust for our cars is 2.5" dia., I want to go 3" for future proofing my mods, just to ensure I can stay ahead of the supercharger fans

. My logic is also, if the best solution for a turbo exhaust is the shortest possible outlet post turbo, then the larger the exhaust system, the better.
