For me the gt86 is the best £25000 u can spend. It's all about the way the car feels.

Had a test drive on the road in a dark grey GT86 today.

I like it. Its a nice place to sit, good driving position. Nice and low. Wheel and seat are quite adjustable and even at 6' 8" I managed to get comfortable. The ride is better than my clio 200s but not by much. Its just a little softer. The wheel is small and gives good feedback. Perhaps a little chunky for my liking. It doesn't feel as quick as the clio but considering the car I drove only had 75 miles on it, it may loosen up a little.

The sound isn't great. Something quite industrial about it a low revs and then at 4000 rpm the valve opens that lets sound into the cabin at your feet. The actual sound is ok after 4k but the delivery is weird and manufactured.

Back seats as already mentioned are not very usable. There is quite a lot of boot space with them folded down though. The car i drove had the optional leather and alcantara seats which are good. They felt similar to the Recaros in my car in terms of support.

Overall I was impressed with it. It reminded me a lot of my old DC2. I think the fake carbon dash and red and black detailing had a lot to do with it in the interior but there was something about the way it drove that reminded me of it as well!

I had my test drive this morning, and was impressed.
The sales guy let me follow my own route, and was prepared to go out for 50 minutes, which is the longest such drive I've ever been offered.
The car was blue , which I thought looked rather dull, but it was a grey day.
Anyway, imo the pros were;-

- very comfortable and efficient driving position;great seats, and v good visibility (but didn't try reversing).

- excellent controls; steering, gear change, clutch and braking all had a really good feel to them.

- the pick-up from low revs was better than I'd expected and would certainly be adequate for my own driving style.

- the car is beautifully balanced and corners with tremendous poise:
also, the suspension offers a better ride over poor surfaces than I'd expected, and road noise is not excessive.

And the cons ;-

- the engine/exhaust sounds are not fantastic (but didn't annoy me).

- yes, some of the cabin trim is a bit naff, particularly that centre console.

So, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the drive and found that the driving satisfaction factor outweighed any concerns re. power, or trim quality. It is the kind of car which will reward any effort made to drive it well, and I've decided that it will be my next car.

But when, I don't know, as my current is less than a year old.....
