Or, alternatively contact your local Subaru dealer who can get you the same touch up paint, and hopefully provide better service too! No other comments Grace? Would really like to hear your response to some of the points raised.Edited by: fatrab

Bumped into the MK Manager picking up pizza - he recognised me and my car. He seemed keen to get things back on track and was aware of the comments on this thread - seemed honest about it.

True to his word, I got a call re: my touch up paint this morning - although they can't get hold of the touch up paint they are talking to Toyota about it.

Lovely reading this thread, nothing like a bit of online drama to keep the day interesting :)

Just adding my 2pence - I've never bought a car from Steven Eagell St. Albans however have used their service dept a bit (2004-2009) for annual service and repairs for my celica vvti and all round been quite happy.

I think when reviewing garages there should be a distinction made between the sales and services depts as they are run entirely separately and a bad egg in sales does not automatically translate to a horrific service for your car.

Oh and I don't work for Steven Eagell :)

Ps I am considering a gt86 from one of their branches right now.

I ordered with the MK branch yesterday...no trouble at all although seemed overly keen to push Supaguard at an inflated price (don't they all?) oh and keen to flog GAP and SMART insurance too.....still let's see how they go with collection and after sales...

My experience with the St. Albans branch.

I agree with other people experiences, very pushy deal only available now. And high prices, tried to sell me a second hand auto for £26k. Brand new it's £25k ish. And had the same car on autotrader for £22k!

I won't be going back!

That's beggars belief lololol.

Jeeezo.

As I noted a few post up tehre ^^^
I ordered at Steven Eagell MK. I got a reasonable deal.
Initially they quoted 4 weeks from 30/12/13 then yesterday estimated 7/2/14 but today agreed that I could delay until March so i could get a 14 plate.
I think that's quite good service as they could've said No.

This sounds like a dealership used to dealing with little old ladies wanting a cheap runabout...

If they keep treating potential customers so badly and acquire a crap reputation, they will go bust for sure.

So amateurish...

Hi,

I'm not one to post a negative review but I feel I must post this one in relation to Steven Eagell Milton Keynes.

The short story is: AVOID at all costs! It was lie after lie with them and they even used the old bait and switch (can't believe I fell for it!!)

Just thought i'd include this because i don't want any potential GT86 owners to have to go through what I did just to hear that sweet engine rawr ;)

I had a great experience with Steven Eagell in Milton Keynes. sure they tried to sell me this and that but I'm strong enough to say politely "No thank you" after this they got the message and just cracked on with the sale.

happy with the service even happier with the car.

I declined to fill in the customer service post sales questionaire.

Up until collection day everything was fine.
Being lied to about the missing bolts in my armrest install and the fact (i did not complain about this one) that both front and rear number plates were drilled and screwed on the piss did not induce me into saying anything nice about them.
I posted this because I know they read this thread and just thought they might like to know.

Just to add my recent experiences (as this thread worried me somewhat when I was buying).

I recently order from Steven eagell aylesbury.

Purchase.
They had a special offer on, it wasn't very special, however I managed to agree quite a good deal in my opinion. They were a little pushy but nothing too much, I quite enjoyed the bartering process actually. I used carwow quotes to inform the discussion and they beat them.

Test drive was good, nice little run out in a blanco. So I ordered, all good.

They kept me informed of progress, I asked about picking reg and got a choice of about 5.

Two days before I was supposed to be getting my new car I got a call saying they were very sorry but it was delayed, something to do with alarm parts at the port being under ordered. Potential month delay.

They had a suggested solution though, I could use the blanco until mine arrived. I said that was nice but as the car was registered I would be taking a months depreciation on my new car.

They called back that day with a suitable compensation product, plus the blanco and I agreed. I was impressed with how they dealt with this.

Then about 10 days later I picked up my car, the delay was cut short, apparently because Steven himself had been onto toyota and they had swapped parts with some dealer cars.

So overall I would recommend, think I got a good fair deal and when there were issues they quickly found solutions. They were open to improving their offers when pushed.

Just posting this so it's useful for others.

3 years later I'm back after constant nagging phonecalls and the experience of this dealer is just as shocking as the first time I visited.

It was agreed over the phone I would visit, test drive the latest car and talk figures. When I arrived they apparently had no record of my call (showed them the logs), the salesperson refused a test drive but was quite happy for me to have a poke around a brand new customer's Aero sitting in the car park unlocked before it was registered.

Figures: I was offered 13k for mine, 13plate blue with leather, satnav, parking sensors and 26k miles on the ticker. Bit of an insult considering they had a 13 plate same week in orange, no leather or nav... for £16k recently reduced from 17k!

The offer: Super manager's special was £1k off a 30k car, considering the same franchise over carwow had offered £3700 off he kept having to go back for approval. Eventually the "manager" came out who said the best they could do was 2k off and they'd be losing money (no sympathy after the lowball partX offer), when I insisted that really what I wanted was a GT86 Aero in blue suddenly his tone changed and the money was dropping off trying to sell me a car I didn't want (orange). To hide the figures they only ever say what the monthly payment is, all I wanted was the savings on the car, the GFV and the term, the rest I could manage myself based on what I'd already calculated. "What monthly figure would it take to get you in to a new car".

Sales summary: The salesperson had no idea what was available with the car, even what colours it came in. Adding multiple trips to speak to the manager... eventually I got the sympathy of "buy from us we'll look after you" speech. Anyone who has read my posts will know how frustrating dealing with this dealer and warranty issues I'd had enough, blue or nothing.

End of deal: In the end the "manager" had had enough, I wanted it in blue and wasn't willing to settle, he'd just get back and say "computer says no", can't do it, so the Jr was sent back to escort me towards the door. This is where it finally clicked. If the customer wanted a car available worldwide in blue in the UK, what if a dealer actually talks to Toyota to see if maybe they could get hold of one! (really? That's all it takes!) so another person was sent out to talk, my details were taken and they would then get back to me if what I am really asking for is possible (not that hard to stick existing blue bits to an existing blue car, it's nothing new!)

The Blue GT86 Aero was was used as a cover to see how far the dealer would go to be helpful/affordable. Instead I was given a rubbish trade in value, little discount on a new car and hours wasted talking with people who look at spreadsheets trying to confuse with monthly figures than actually listening to what a customer wants. They were determined to sell me a car I didn't want.

So if you really want a new car, just Carwow it for a quote, and go with any other dealer that isn't Steven Eagell. I was threatened that if more people used Carwow then dealers like Steven Eagell would have to close down... so please use Carwow!

didnt buy a car from a steven Eagell, but was looking for a white aero gt86 and they had one up for sale at kings Lynn which was about two and half hours drive away from me,phoned them to ask if it was still there and the guy said yer, asked him some questions about it which he didnt seem to have a cue about, anyway he said why dont you come up and view the car,so i said sure why not...thought id take a road trip up there, got there and couldnt see the aero but they had a normal white demo gt86,so just thought maybe they are gonna take me for a spin in that one then show me the aero, indeed i went for a drive in the normal gt86,then when i got back from the test drive i asked where the aero was? oh aero what aero? oh sorry its in peterbrough miles away as my boss has been using it for weddings?! at this point i really didnt know what to say,i had just drove all that way to look at a car that wasnt there,to say i was slighty annoyed was a understatment...and to hear that the boss had been using the car driving around in it just put me straight off, when i spoke to the boss he didnt have a clue about anything to do with the car either or knew anything about gt86's,so i walked out and i would never go back to a steven Eagell dealer again, they were like cowboys from a back street garage,i believe the aero is still up for sale even now and the milage is going up every month so guessing the boss is still clocking up the miles!

I bought my 86 from Steven eagell Toyota in Northampton since i'm from Northampton. Luckily the sales rep there offered a much better service than from what appears everyone else has suffered from other dealers. The sales rep i had appeared to be a bit of a car guy, allowed me test drive their demo blanco how i wanted to and then tried offering me good deals on finance deals.Which in term lead to me signing the contract, the only downside i had was i somehow missed out on checking the bodywork which is partly my own fault for not looking thoroughly as the car has so many hidden scratches which most likely cause from using polishing tools. But im still happy with car as i still drive it today.

Further feedback: Steven Eagell Milton Keynes never got back to me regarding the blue Aero, their loss I'm just going to keep the car instead. No more new cars here.

As I'm hitting my 3 year mark in 2 weeks it's time to book in the annual service and MOT. I didn't want to go through Steven Eagell again but due to time availability it was either that or a local garage who are the sort to tell you your brake pads are running low even though they've just been fitted new that week.

My needs are simple. Steven Eagell Letchworth are an authorised fitter for Blackcircles so I thought I could get some V105's fitted to my old slick primacy wheels in the process. I called up for the following work:
Service: (Fixed price £200)
MOT: (Fixed price £39)
Tyres: BC quoted £320 for all 4 fitted at Letchworth, Steven Eagell could not supply BUT they could fit some WINTER TYRES for £420 if that would help!
Warranty repair work: My door pillars are rusty (common fault) and door seal on the drivers side pushes the glass out causing wind noise. Apparently they need the car in for a FULL DAY or at least 2 HOURS on top of the service to investigate, something I managed to do on my drive in 5 seconds. This is only to INVESTIGATE, it would then need another FULL DAY to fit in the future... I didn't even want to mention my gearbox was having issues again after this! The whole point of booking the car in with them for service/MOT was to get the warranty work done but apparently they can't do it on the same day, or not sure if they can even source the parts. The agent on the phone was completely useless.

So offering winter tyres in the middle of summer and needing a full day to see that there's a little bit of rust on a common fault item but disguising it as it being a repair instead of an inspection... don't go near them if you want your car looking after! Car is going in for the £39 MOT only and I'll take it to another dealer for the other £500+ worth of work.

I am kinda glad my local branch got hold of my 86 from the MK dealer at the time,i was going travel down to get deal done there but im glad they were able to take each other stocks.Think i'm going take my car to either Knight Racer or Fensport for a service when its due and not go through Toyota themselves.

I wished I had read this before! I brought my GT86 from Reading but my wife just passed her test so went for a used non-Toyota car from Letchworth branch. The buying was good but on collection, car had no manual or service book, original wheel trims replaced by aftermarket ones, and airbag warning light came on later on that day. Been asking them for help but after two weeks still not resolved. Now asked my credit card company to investigate under Consumer credit act section 75. But so much hassle, especially from a Toyota dealer where customer service should be good.

Just a word on GAP insurance etc when I brought my GT, I was well prepared, I told and show them I can get everything cheaper online, tell them my neighbour was a bodywork mechanic, my brother in law works in a tyre shop etc...the only thing I wanted was the Bodywork and interior protection but I said I wasn't sure and play the game and in the end got it down to £250 from £399! My cousin used to just say I can't afford it, and the salesman seems to then realised the buyer is not interested.

I'm very happy after picking up my car from Steven Eagell, Letchworth yesterday.

I tried two local dealers who didn't seem bothered about getting me in a test drive even though I said I was definitely going to buy a GT86; Yeoman's in Eastbourne completely uninterested, SLM Hastings didn't follow up on plans for a test drive and ignored emails.

I found my car advertised at Letchworth (80 miles away), and had a call from Aftab the next morning. Went up there and me and Mrs Roobarb had a no pressure test drive, had the extras I wanted fitted, booked to complete the following weekend with good communication throughout.

I'm really happy with the car and with how it was all handled. Top marks from me.

Good to see they're selling cars they have in stock, still waiting for availability about a newly specced car from months ago. Gave up chasing them because they clearly weren't interested in sourcing a new car. Rubbish trade in value on my current one too.
