Hi I'm new here picking my car up on Friday hopefully.
Here is the problem I need to carry surfboard on the roof.
Test drove the car and had to have one
but I need to carry the surfboard .!!
I know that in America somebody has fitted a roof rack to a brz
But that roof rack is not available in this country.
Anybody got any ideas?

the back is pretty roomy. slice the board in half, put some sort of click system on it and stuff it all back there

Yes. I don't want to use a soft rack because it might scratch the roof
But need to carry a surfboard at least 4or5 times a year

get an old VW-bus to cruise the coastlines with. plenty of room in and on for a board plus loads of room for extracurricular activities and such

Get some boot lid deck mounts and use it in a detcheable boot spoiler kind of way

I believe the roof does have the standard roof rack fitting channel. At least that's what I suspect is under the plastic strips on the roof I keep cleaning.

Fold rear seat.

Put psgr seat fully forward & recline.

Lose headrest.

Insert board.

Use seatbelt to secure.

Do not go near Microbuses when surfing as it's sooo lame.

Not a bad idea, TBF. It may be $50-100 carriage but I don't think that's too bad, in the scheme of things.


PS. Do you have/had a Griff? I had a 430 precat - great fun.

Mount it sideyways across the boot lid and you'll also have an instant boy racer rear wing - "sweet" (or whatever spotty kids say at that point)

You'd also be able to join the increasing number of people who can now say "I own a GT86, I've modified it and I've now ruined my car".

Or buy a roof rack and fit to the Toyota Yaris you'll buy. Remembering the salesman in your dealership did say come back in the future and I'll do you a good deal on your next car. So time to put his statement to the test...Edited by: Targ86

Yes I've still got 4.3 griff but needs some
work to get it back on the road.
But I haven't the time or space to work on it.
Body needs lifting to repair outriggers.

A few offer outrigger replacement in situ these days.

Once you get the car, you'll kick the surfing into touch, so you won't have a requirement to carry that stuff.

According to the Tech site, this is compatible with the GT-86 and I would like to guess that if it can carry ski and snowboards, you could strap a surf board to it too.
