Just had this pop up on Toyota Tech EU while searching for more technical documents after I entered my VIN and wondered if anyone else had more information on this or what cars it affects. As my VIN was used to get the information I am assuming I am affected by it, however there is no mention of the power steering ECU recall on the list for my VIN which was done last year.

RRG Macc just emailed me back, Rich has suggested it'll be Dec/Jan before any dealers are in a position to carry out the work since the procedure etc needs to be formalised.

It will be about December before parts are available.
I should get a call or letter around then.

Any idea what the actual problem is? First I've heard of any valve spring issues, weird as this will cost Toyota a bomb.
"Subaru said valve springs in the recalled cars could fracture and cause the engine to stall, risking an accident. These springs keep engine valves closed when the fuel is being combusted. Failure can cause severe engine damage."

Mine's on the list :( If it's engine out, hopefully they'll do my spark plugs at the same time if I slip the mechanic £20, sitting at 56,000 miles now.

If peeps have had their early FA20 'let go', I wonder if this admission of a fault means they can get some compo off Toyota?

Thanks for the heads up - mine is also showing as affected.

The car is going in to the dealers on Saturday morning for a service and a new set of tyres, so I'll ask about it then.

Update: it's also showing on the DVLA Recall site: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall

My spark plugs are due soon too and I though the same thing :)

With regard to the recall though, I really don't like the idea of my local dealer going that deep in to my engine?!
