Hi guys

I'm not quite from the UK but your forum seems to be the most informative from what I've seen so far. Been lurking for a while and finally decided to register

I got my 86 a couple of weeks ago - Satin Pearl White, manual, black leather and LOVING it!

A couple of pics:

Notice the ugly radio we get here in SA. It's since been replaced with something better.

NICE!! Welcome. Looks like you got the Scooby stereo. YUK!! Also, I notice, like in Australia you dont get the wing on the back (I think it looks great with or without). They also dont get keyless entry ..is that the case in SA?

keep those kind of pics coming please, superb, and welcome to the forum.
Thank you very much. Those are the best pics I've taken so far(in my humble opinion of course), I still need to find the time for a proper "shoot".

Thanks, yeah that stereo is horrible. We got those in the pre-facelift Hilux as well. Cheap & nasty.

The wing doesn't come standard but we do have the option of the TRD wing.

Here's what we've got standard on the "High spec" off the top of my head:
-Smart keyless entry with stop/start
-Ventilated discs front & rear (solidrear on the Std spec)
-17" wheels(16" on the std spec)
-Part leather/Alcantara heated seats with leather trim on the center console
-Dual zone auto climate control
-Autolevellingbi-xenon headlights with washers
-Frameless rearview mirror
-Courtesy lamps in both sun visors and on the doors
-Digital speedometer(not on our Std spec)
-Cruise control
-Full sized spare wheel(but no cover)

I think there are a couple of other things but I can't remember right now.
All paint options are zero cost extras.

Welcome and gratz on your aquisition.
What sort of number plates are those?

Does everyone in SA have a white car? All those in your photos are!

Cheers

Thanks :)

Those are our new "legal" plate holders. A metal numberplate(which I didn't have at the time of taking then photos) gets riveted to it and if you take it off the holders are reflective so cops can see you coming from a mile away. I don't like them personally.

White is the new black here in SA. It was gold/"champagne" then black and now white. Not sure what'll be next.

First one in the Southern Hemisphere, any other foreign lurkers want adding ?

Also do they do the reversing camera as an option ?

I remember seeing pictures. Cost a fortune in touch up paint!

Thanks, Johannesburg, Gauteng.

The 86 was launched here 3 months ago and they've already sold just under 400 so I'm sure there must be others lurking.

No reverse camera option here, probably because we don't have the Toyota Touch & Go option. Not even parking sensors.

We do get some of the TRD bits & pieces such as the full dress up kit and exhaust but none of them really interested me.

remember to keep those doors locked at the traffic lights!
Always do and that's actually the one thing that annoys me about this car - you have to unlock before you can open the door. I'm used to pulling the lever and it automagically unlocks.
