Central Dash Material for Phone Holder

Hi all,

This is kind of a request and info for all who are looking for an in car phone holder.

To those who now have their cars, could you checkout the material of the dash above the 2 central vents please? Is it bumpy or smooth, leather or plastic, solid or a bitflimsy, only slightly curved or really curved surface etc?

I ask this because I've found this:

It's the Arkon Slim-Grip Dash & Flat Surface Mount - click here for linkor here

This would be ideal for me having it hang down from the dash just covering the vents slightly (instead of using the weak vent holders). This way I'm not obstructing my field of vision and have easy access to the 12V port.

For the actual suction, instead of your usual clear rubber plastic disc, it uses a sticky adhesive disc that sucks and sticks but is still removable, reusable and doesn't leave any sticky residue. So it'll still work on bumpy surfaces and not just on smooth surfaces. It will also work on slightly curved surfaces too.

They are an american company but they are available from uk sellers through ebay for about £20.

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks!

I've got a window stick one at the moment but this is a great idea. Also quite likeing the idea of the ODBDII bluetooth adaptor.... Hmmm.

Is that the best one you've found? I've gotan HTC Sensations but will likely get an SIII or equivalent next. My mrs also has an iCrap 4s so ideally need one that will fit a multitude of phones

They're the only 2 that I've found so far that uses those tackyadhesivesuction cups that can hang the device downwards. I've seen pics of the Arkon holding icraps all the way up to my mahoosive Galaxy Notes. At the same time, they do have different end holders for smaller phones, to hold the phones on the sides or even full size tablets...oh and they're cheaper on amazon:

Sadly the Kropsson ones are twice the price and shipped over from either USA or South Korea

Oh and did you know that there's a 12V socket within the glove compartment too? I noticed that if you wanted to have the central cup holders closer to you, you would struggle to use the 12V socket in that area, but turns out that there's one in the glove box too

Thought I'd re-surface this.
The Arkon phone holder shown at the top works really well and fits nicely above the central vents. Got mine off of Amazon for about £18 and arrived from the states in under 2 weeks. Suits the car nicely too!
Does it hold an I phone 4s?

I've set mine up to take the Mrs' 4S and my HTC Sensation. Comes with 8 interchangablefeet, 4 short and 4 longand is spring loaded so it grabs the phone tight, perfect so you can rotate it landscape for nav apps. As mine is larger than the iPhone then it's a little harder to get in but not a struggle.
Have a gander later dude!
