I have a glitch whereby the aircon doesn't seem to work when the outside temperature is very hot like today. Also happened last year whilst we were on holiday and the external temperature was in the high twenties.
It seems as if the compressor clutch doesn't engage.
Next morning when it's a bit cooler it will work ok.

Is this a common fault? or perhaps a "feature"

Any ideas please.

Sorry to say but this is not normal. I’ve driven mine in 35c heat and its never out a foot wrong.

Like you say, something stopping the clutch engagement… probably needs a specialist to look at it.

I'd say it needs looking at. Mine was flawless in the 3 years I owned it.

Mine did the same yesterday. Hot day and a/c pushing out hot air. This morning nice and cold air. Had it re-gassed about a month ago. Aircon man thought it had never been fully filled at the PDI 3 years previously.
I did note when pushing out the hot air, I could hear a clicking every few seconds which stopped when I turned it off.
Another thread has mentioned the compressor clutch.
I'll see if it happens again when the temperature is up.

Certainly, something to get checked out, my AC has worked in those temps before.
