Assuming all the mods were declared to your insurers, you can always dispute the assessors initial settlement offer.

TBH, with that amount of damage and a Cat S I'd be very cautious about buying back unless it was extremely cheap. Even then, you'll have to put in the time to get a repair organised personally, plus being a Cat S it'll maybe be more to insure and the resale value will be knocked down by 25% or more. Sometime you need to be objective on how much £££s to put into any car.

NB After a shunt that hard, I hope you've seen a specialist about soft-tissue damage, neck-sprain etc. with a view to an injury claim for compensation.
