as a lot of members have issues with the batteries on GT86 is it possible for administrators to arrange to get a lot of signatures to sign a petition collectively to send a complaint to Toyota to sort this out as it is terrible brand image and problem for a lot of owners and if petition was made from a lot of people they might listen to everyone. Toyota used to stand for reliability as one of major importance to car buyers but not anymore IMHO.
Batteries should be "Fit for purpose" but it seems Toyota get away with this bad practice
Excuse my ignorance but what is the issue with the battery?
I have only had mine since last October and it sometimes sits for four or five days without use.
Is there something I should be aware of?
Thanks
A load of us have already had our battery changed under warranty for the 65Ah item. Mine failed at three years and 70k miles. I had no problem with it going flat, it simply failed. The 45Ah battery is fine if you use your car regularly but seems to fail when the car is not used for longer periods. This issue about it being changed under warranty is dealer specific rather than issue UK wide with Toyota.
I would say that TGB must be aware of the issues due to the amount of warranty claims. If they wanted to do something about it, they would have done. It's cheaper to fix the % that fail than to replace every one on entry to the UK and that'll be the bottom line. Speak to Kesler as he's our line into TGB.....
