Unhappy Alarm won't turn off and won't start. Seems to not recognise key fob. Changed batteri

Changed batteries on both fobs but no joy. Alarm keeps going off and won't start. Was fine before this morning and driven 15 miles first.???? Want to avoid paying for toyota garage main dealer fix and paying through the nose.

Please help

Ah, so it's your fob battery that's dead - not the car's battery (some confusion in the other thread on my part then). Have you tried this method to start the car up -
? Not the best video, but you get the idea. Although I'm not sure why the fobs wouldn't have been happy with new batteries.

Sorry tried that

Replaced batteries in fob and pushed it around button and pushed button in with fob as toyota recommended but no joy. Do you think it's the main car battery then?

No, but could be something to rule out. My confusion came from the other thread you posted in as that was the issue another member was having. Are you able to disable the alarm via the keypad in the glove box?

Check that the plunger switch under the bonnet (drivers side near the hinge) is being pushed down by the bonnet - long shot but mine got bent down when the valve springs were done and the alarm wouldn't stop.

Thumbs up Will do

Will do, it seemed to fox then. Had several phone calls with service dept and tried everything they said with button and fob. Will see on next few days. On a good note the salesmen told me they're going up in price and really holding their value as becoming more popular.

Hi all

Turned out to be the electronic bonnet release switch inside the hood was reading it was open and ended up draining the battery. They had to order one direct from Toyota. £22 but labour was paid in gold bars.
