My battery was dead last month from sitting in the cold for 10 days while I've was away.

I charged it back up using a mains battery charger, worked great for a couple of weeks, but then died again when I didn't drive it for the last 5 days.

Car is 4.5 years old, is it reasonable to request a warranty replacement from a local dealer?

If not, can anyone recommend what battery I can buy and from where?

Thanks

Lead Acid batteries do not like being totally discharged, and if they go completely flat even once, they very rarely fully recover.

The car has a 5-year warranty, so there's no harm in asking your dealership to replace it under warranty. It's worth trying before you spend money on a replacement.

Bah, only covered under warranty for 12 months and if a brand new car.

Part and service are now closed till Tuesday, doh!

Did some people mention that they bought greater capacity batteries from elsewhere?

Can anyone recommend exactly what I might need if I were to buy from a 3rd party and where to get one?

Is it pretty easy to swap out the battery and replace it myself?

Which replacement battery - http://www.gt86ownersclub.co.uk/forum/which-replacement-battery_topic12433.html

Guess having a GT86 gives you a taste of owning a hybrid hyper-car where you need to keep it on a CTEK conditioner...

The battery on my car was replaced, under warranty, when it was 29 months old, and I'm sure that I've read of many other owners who have had warranty replacements at much older than 12 months.

I'd be ringing both my dealer and Toyota GB first thing on Tuesday morning.

If you look back on this thread you will see I had the same problem.
How old is your car? May be able to claim uprated battery under warranty.
My local dealer uprated from original Panasonic 48Ah to a Toyota 65Ah.
Good luck.
