I fitted the RacerX one months ago and it's been leak free since.

I wouldn't even bother getting this fixed under warranty. They will just stick it back on with that crappy liquid seal and it will only start leaking again. I think if you are going to tune the car this is the first mod you should do, it will only get worse with more power. Especially if you plan on going turbo/SC.

Took the car back to Toyota and they looked again and suspected another leak that was running along to the plate and dripping. Engine out and cam box lid gaskets and seals at end replaced. Picking up the car again tomorrow and hopefully all sorted now.

Anyone else fitted an aftermarket one and still had leak issues? Mine seems to have started leaking slightly again with the RacerX plate :/

Though this time the oil feels very thin. So thin it doesn't really give off much of an oil smell.

A pic of my oem plate, about to start a leak.  I got a much improved version from Sumo Power for £59 inc p&p, which I had fitted as part of the annual service, so cost £35 extra for fitting.  Being FI, this was a precautionary move, which I am pleased I did, seeing the state of the oem part.

No leaks so far!

So I took mine off again today to see whats going on and found this:

The seal has gone on the RacerX part after only a few 1000 miles. Looks like the oil has just eaten through it :/

Looks to me as if it's been pinched when it's been bolted up. I'd be very surprised if it's been made of a rubber that degrades in contact with oil.

A new o ring should only be a couple of quid

I forgot to check what size it is :(

I've had to put it back on as I need to use the car.

For info - the Torque Solutions cam plate cover, that I purchased, has a high temp VITON o-ring gasket.  Don't know how good that makes it, but that is what it has got.
